About Market Creation Group (MCG)
Kicking Awards and Taking Names
Three Simple Marketing Principles
The Market Creation Group (MCG) was founded on three simple principles:
1) Emerging companies typically don’t have the capacity to hire full-time marketing, but need strategic and project resources on demand.
2) Most marketing agencies don’t know squat about demand generation for the business-to- business (B2B) marketplace.
3) Most marketing agencies don’t offer end-to-end services designed to support their clients all the way through the sales cycle and beyond.
So in early 2006, founder and CMO Brett Schklar took a leap from the corporate cliff and formed MCG. It didn’t take long to prove that the market was ready for a marketing firm whose team was hand-selected for their deep understanding of what growing B2B companies need.
From Grandma’s Basement to Denver’s Fastest-Growing B2B Marketing Firm
As MCG continued to grow, a few surprising things happened along the way. First, we found that by all the technological advancements in the last few years, we could build a truly unique, agile, practically cat-like-company. Some would break it down like this:
| Skype Sprint broadband cards Tweeting Bluetooth | Starbucks Text messaging Globalization | = | Quick Efficient Lean Clearly loving what we do! |
Next, we found that our technophile work style and B2B background was the perfect fit for our clients. It allowed us to be creative, thoughtful, responsive and resourceful for our clients without breaking their bank, and actually encouraged our clients to do much more marketing than they had previously imagined. By the end of 2008, MCG’s client base had grown to include a host of emerging companies, as well as established Fortune 1000 clients (646, 444, 90, 46) – almost all from client referrals. We outgrew our first office, lovingly called Grandma’s Basement, and headed downtown to the Sante Fe Art District to set up shop. By mid-2009, we were recognized by The Denver Business Journal as the #1 Fastest-Growing Private Company in our class, and the rest, as they say, is history. At the end of 2009, MCG decided to take its growth up a notch.
After partnering for months with Brand M Studios, both Brand M and MCG decided that their combined creative and strategic talents – that were both focused on business-to-business technology – were too powerful to work as two. On November 18, 2009, Brand M Studios was acquired by MCG, and Brand M’s fearless leader, Keith McCurdy, was brought in as MCG’s Art Director. Brett Schklar describes the acquisition as, “One of the best damn decisions MCG has made to step up our creative game and prepare for further growth!”
But wait, there's more! In May of 2010, MCG won its first award, which happened to be the first award it submitted for. MCG won a prize in the Colorado Business Marketing Associations' Gold Key Awards.
